Project Morpheus

A few weeks ago I tested a VR helmet Oculus Rift, which made a huge impression on me . At some point, my brain is almost completely lost touch with the outside world. It is a unique and very interesting feeling, however, there are many challenges before Oculus will be ready for the mass audience.
In the meantime Sony is going to start unexplored but presumably promising market of virtual reality. The strategy of the company is the development of a new market for computer technology in the gaming industry.

Sony has moved toward the establishment of joint ventures and strategic alliances in order to supplement or replace functions that were previously performed by divisions of Sony Corporation or its wholly-owned subsidiaries. The company has opened an entirely new division engaged in the development of virtual reality products. This strategy is aimed for young people who use game consoles. New product of Sony is doomed to success due to the huge demand. People have been dreaming about the possibility to dive into virtual reality and the company made a unique strategic move combined new technologies and addicted gamers.

The authoritative publication Eurogamer published that the Japanese giant has been working on its own helmet, which is similar to the Oculus Rift. CEO of Oculus Palmer Lucky recently spoke about this. "If Microsoft or Sony will release their own helmets, it will legitimizes the market. This will show that virtual reality is important. This is also likely to mean that there will be more relevant games", said Lucky.

It implies that the global giant Sony starts a new direction of business development. Sony is keeping hidden in terms of firm details. The price, weight, and release date are still unavailable, and the main question of display latency remains woefully ambiguous. It’s impossible to tell just yet, but I will be keeping a close eye on this peripheral as more information becomes available.
