Intel's new acquisition

INTEL buys wearable Technology firm Basis Science

US chipmaker Intel has stepped up its investment in wearable technology with the acquisition of Basis Science, creators of the basic band, a firm known for its health tracking services and devices.
The start-up from San Francisco will be merged with Intel's New Devices Group, which focuses on wearable computing and connected devices.
The acquisition of Basic science brings access to Intel resources, expertise and global scale as they work together to explore new possibilities of wearable technology
INTEL:  is a world leader in computing innovation. The company designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world’s computing devices
BASIS SCIENCE: produces wrist-based health tracker and online personal dashboard designed to help people easily incorporate healthy habits into their daily routines
A major advantage of this acquisition is that it provides Intel with 'immediate entry' into the wearable technology market and access to new technology.
