Now 7-11 belongs to Tata 24/7

Indian conglomerate Tata Group announced the acquisition of Dallas, TX based 7-Eleven, Inc for an undisclosed sum. From making the world's cheapest car to acquiring 7-Eleven, Tata has yet again proved its mark by adding another company to its long list.

With the acquisition of 7-Eleven, Tata for the first time has ventured into the convenience store business, it will be setting up a new corporation under the Tata Group of companies that will concentrate exclusively on retailing and merchandising. The new company will be called Tata Marin and will handle all business generated by the newly acquired 7-Eleven Inc.
Tata has been in the acquiring business for a long time now and this is now become an habit for the corporation, for them acquisition has become the best strategy there is. You can find the lists of the Tata companies and details their business here

Apoo Nahasapeemapetilon, Vice President of Operations for Tata Group, who was also once a franchisee of 7-Eleven said that the two companies are still finalizing all the paperwork and tying all the loose ends.

The news of Tata acquiring 7-Eleven has already spread across many countries especially in India and it has an advantage and an edge of opening 7-Eleven to an potentially enormous market where it can combine both the base structuring of 7-Eleven to suit the new market. The only downfall i think to this would be how this new concept of convince stores works in the Indian market as India has the concept of Maximum Retail price for all products, and the profit margin for the franchisers may differ here.
