Google enters artificial intelligence field

After acquiring many robotic companies, Google has also shown interest in artificial intelligence by purchasing European start-up DeepMind Technologies, an artificial intelligence company, which combines the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience to building powerful general-purpose learning algorithms aiming to achieve tasks like recognizing faces in video or words in human speech, simulations, e-commerce, and games etc.
The company was founded by Demis Hassabis, neuroscientist and computer genius, together with Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman in London. On January 2014 the deal was confirmed at $400 million, which made Deep Mind Google's biggest single acquisition in Europe, however they refuse to disclose the deal terms.
Google seems to be getting into new edge by acquiring DeepMind Technology, which will help them to focus on deep learning and compete with the competitor like Facebook & IBM, who has already gained advantage over Deep learning. I think, that main motive for Google behind the acquisition of DeepMind is to create technology like Cybernetic Friend (technology, which helps to know users better than themselves), which can make search more humorous and can understand context like a human brain. Google has an opportunity to set a benchmark and transform the entire system in "skynet"- which is fictional, self-aware artificial intelligence system.
